Michigan

The majority of Michigan was acquired by the U.S. from the British after the Revolutionary War. Bordering four of the five Great Lakes, the state is divided into the upper and lower peninsulas. These are two separate, non-contiguous areas, with the state’s capital city, Lansing, and its largest city, Detroit, in the lower peninsula. Michigan provides excellent fishing and water recreation opportunities with 10,000+ inland lakes and more than 3,000 miles of lake coastline.

Aside from attracting visitors to its areas of outstanding natural beauty, the state benefits from being the country’s leading automobile and motor parts manufacturer. Furthermore, essential minerals such as copper, iron, and iodine are also produced in the area. As the major city of Chicago is nearby, small businesses would benefit significantly by being based in Michigan.
