Massachusetts
Massachusetts is steeped in U.S history. It’s where Plymouth Colony (the location of the European Pilgrims’ first settlement in the 1600s) is and where the start of the bid of independence from Great Britain occurred with the Boston Tea Party of 1773. The battles of Lexington and Concord between the Minutemen and the British in 1775 took place in the state, starting off the American Revolution.
Massachusetts was at the forefront of textile and shoe manufacturing, but today is geared towards electronics and communications equipment. In addition, it is the U.S.’s second-largest producer of cranberries. It also boasts a healthy tourist industry thanks to the beaches of Cape Cod and the scenic Berkshire mountains. All in all, Massachusetts’ healthy economic environment makes it a highly desirable place for establishing a small business.
