Kansas

Kansas is well-known for being the home of The Wizard of Oz’s Dorothy Gale and Toto. Its name derives from the Native American tribe native who lived in the region before the settlers—the Kansa. The state contains the flat and sprawling Great Plains region as well as wheat fields, oil well derricks, and cattle herds. The state was acquired in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase but wasn’t settled in until 1812.

It wasn’t until 1861, however, that it was officially admitted into the Union. Kansas is the U.S’s primary producer of helium, while the city of Wichita is the country’s center of aircraft manufacturing. The state is ideal for new small business owners or more established ones looking to expand their enterprise.
