Idaho
Idaho is only the 14th largest state but is greater in size than all of New England. Its nickname, “Gem State,” derives from the region’s mountains and mining industry. The state is well-known for its mined silver, antimony, garnet, and cobalt. Agriculture also plays a significant role in the state’s economy, most notably potato farming. In addition, tourism has started to gain traction, thanks to all the outdoor pursuits the state has to offer.
Fishing, camping, boating, hunting, and hiking all draw tourists to the area, as does the Craters of the Moon National Park, Hells Canyon, the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area, and Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Idaho provides small businesses with enticing favorable taxation and large amounts of empty land to build on.
