Hello Drew,
Christian here. I do hand poke tattoos here at Bonedale. I’d be happy to help you out with something like this. I do a lot of fine line work similar to your reference (you can see some work @stoopkidtattoo on IG). My rate is $100/hr with a $100 minimum. For a piece like this you’d be in the $100/$200 range.
We can surely do color, but I’d recommend changing the design a bit from what is pictured. Solid outlined color will stand the test of time much better than what is pictured. This is something we can surely work together on.
To answer your questions
1. We use Solid Ink, you can see all ingredients @ https://thesolidink.com
2. This is top of the line ink. As with any tattoo you may experience some skins irritation, but a rash in uncommon.
3. We can surely do a test patch if you’d like, but this would have to be part of the design. Even test patches are a permanent addition to your skin.
4. Yes, we are a certified shop, adhering to all standards set forth by the state of Colorado.

That tattoo shouldn’t take too long. The linework, itself maybe 20 minutes and the color another 30-50 depending on color choice.
We charge 150/hour so my best estimate for this tattoo would be between 100 and 200.
As far as ingredients go they vary from company to company and each artist uses their own choice of brands, but all are certified-sterile and are very common pigments used in modern tattooing. I’m happy to go over the ingredient list in detail in person at the time of the tattoo.
Color ink takes longer to put in the skin so as a result it will damage the skin more. Nothing monumental, but it does double the time it takes to do, so of course more pain is involved.
I’m happy to perform a patch test, but the minimum set up fee is $100. If you have a reason to suspect you could have an allergy we can discuss that more in person as well.
The state of Colorado doesn’t require licenses for tattoo artists, but rather that the shop is licensed itself, ensuring proper aftercare, sterilization and general management is done according to state law.

We don’t have anybody who specialize just in this style. 3×3 you are looking at $150 that is with color.
For the other question you would have Topicort the artist you want to work with because each artist uses there preferred inks.
I have not ran across that for about 15 years when all inks started to change.
If you think your skin will react you should consult a doctor before because we can only suggest off of our own personal knowledge.
All tattoo shops that are open in Jefferson county have to licensed to do business.
We can preform a test which we would have to charge the shop minimum of $100.
We use tight 3rs for what people think is single needles.
Single needles are unstable in there construction which results in blowouts and the 3rs are the same size but a lot more ridged.
